Spent hours playing
Carrom Board
With my uncle and cousin
Often after dinner
In the game of black and white pieces
A race to get the red queen
But many times
Even after getting the queen
Had to lose,
On one such summer evening
We were all playing
In between repeatedly
Aunt kept calling
‘Come on, stop, enough of the game’
But ignoring that voice
We kept playing the game
Then came aunt in anger
And struck hard with
The pestle in the middle of the Carrom Board
All the pieces scattered
And we all were stunned
Just from then we left
Our game of Carrom Board,
But even today
I remember a lot
My dear aunt’s
Love and affection.
